Obituary

Agnes Kay Mitchell age 61 of Danville passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at Mitchell's Nursing Home. She was born December 4, 1951 in Appleton City, Missouri to the late James Drexel & Maurine Gillespie Mitchell. She was a member of the Danville United Methodist Church. Agnes attended college at the University of Hawaii, while there she fell in love with oriental culture. She was a member and past president Arkansas Nursing Home Nurses Association; John Ed Chambers Memorial Hospital Board of Governors; licensed Arkansas Long Term Care Administrator; owner of Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville where she was Director of Nursing until 2011 then continued as nursing manager. She spent a lifetime taking care of nursing home residents whom she considered an extension of her family. She loved her horses, her friends, her family and her country, Preceded in death by her parents; grandparents, Irvin & Melissa Gillespie; Arthur "Poss" & Agnes "Pet" Mitchell. Survivors include brother, James Mitchell of Danville; niece & husband, Sarah & P.T. Sanders; nephew & wife, Robert & Katie Mitchell all of Danville; aunts, Bobbie Hunnicutt, Geneva Pledger both of Danville; Nancy Gillespie of Belleville; Imogene Mitchell of Danville; Betty Gillespie of Kansas City, Kansas; uncle & wife Calvin & Florence Mitchell of Lake Charles, Louisiana; great nephews Landon & Aimee Sanders and Preston Sanders of Conway; and a number of cousins and many friends whom she dearly loved. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2013 at the Danville First Baptist Church with Rev. Tom Sullinger officiating. Burial will be at Earl Ladd Cemetery. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday July 30, at the Danville United Methodist Church. Pallbearers include Snooky Patterson, Dean Catlett, Chip Vestal, William Hall, Ken Lancaster, Charlie Belue, Jimmy Sims, John Tom Walker, Roy Underwood and Tommy May. Honorary pallbearers include Mitchell Nursing Home Staff & Roy Nichols resident of Mitchell Nursing Home since 1969; Bood Keathley, Philip Miron, Sonny Madden, Buddy Miller, Romy Castillo, Michael Cardinez; Dr. Elton Cleveland; Kenny Loyd & Boyce Page; Danville High School Class of 1969.
