Obituary

Alfred Bradberry "A.B." Hundley, Jr passed from this life on November 17 at the age of 83.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Malachi Jordan Aldridge; one sister Karen Hundley Hearn. A.B. is survived by the love of his life Sheila Neal; two daughters, Lisa Morrison (Allen) and Libby Aldridge; one bonus daughter, Sherry Sawyer; five grandchildren, Tyler Young (Karie Casto), Tanner Young, Ashlynne Young (Austin Berry), Adeline Aldridge and Abigail Aldridg two great grandchildren, Ada Young, Paisley Aldridge and baby Emma Young on her way.

Known for his quick wit, tireless energy, and warm smile, he lived a life marked by determination, resourcefulness, and love for those around him. He often joked that he was "a jack of all trades and master of none," yet those who knew him would say there was very little he couldn't learn, build, or figure out; in fact, prior to the internet, he often went to the library to learn how to do what he didn't know.

His work ethic began early in life; at just six years old, he took his first job picking cotton, and from that day forward, he was always finding a way to work, earn, and provide.

He made his living in many ways over the years, first in construction, building his first house at the age of twenty-two. He then worked in flooring sales for many years, eventually becoming a rural mail carrier. Along the way, he continually invested in rental properties, repairing, improving, and managing them himself.

Whatever he set his hands to, he did with ingenuity, hard work, and the common- sense wisdom that made people trust him.

He was known not only for what he built, but for his personality. He loved to "pick and poke," good-naturedly teasing and joking with anyone close by. His grin was a giveaway that he was up to something, and his humor could ease the tension in many situations- or just make it more fun!

His death came as a shock to everyone who knew him, because he never slowed down. He was full of energy, always moving, working circles around men half his age. He also had a gift for finding treasure in unusual places. He loved going to auctions, especially when he could buy "box and contents," just for the fun of discovering what was inside when he got home. He once laughingly told someone, "I opened it and dug through all the stuff, then the next morning, I turned it around and found a whole new box of stuff!

He was a behind-the-scenes helper, slipping someone in need a bit of money, fixing what was broken, feeding livestock for a neighbor, or simply showing up when no one else did. He gave without seeking recognition, and his kindness often spoke louder than words ever could.

After living most of his life without a relationship with God, he recently made the decision to follow Christ. Though he didn't want an attaboy for it, he shared that he had finished reading the Bible all the way through. That quiet declaration of faith is now a healing comfort to his family, who honestly don't know what they'll do without him.
