Allene Faye Dobbs Sept. 18, 1925 ~ Jan. 4, 2019 Resident of Rodeo, CA. Allene Dobbs, passed away at the age of 93. Allene was born September 18, 1925, the second of twin daughters born to the late Waymon and Sadie Mabry at their home in Chula, Arkansas. At age 16, Allene went to Russellville, AR where she trained with other women to build aircrafts during World War II. At age 17 she took a bus from Russellville to Detroit Michigan. Once in Detroit, she worked as a waitress until her 18th birthday. After she turned 18, she was hired at the manufacturing company where the aircrafts were made and officially became a Rosie the Riveter. She remained working there until the end of the war in 1945. After the war ended she returned to her parents home in Arkansas, where she waited for her childhood sweetheart, Delbert Winfield Dobbs of Bluffton, Arkansas to return from his service during the war. They married Aug. 4, 1945. Allene and her husband moved from Arkansas to Calif. with their two small children in 1953. Allene remained at home as a mother and as a homemaker until returning to the workforce in 1958, before welcoming her third child a daughter in 1960. She went to work for Berkeley Instruments and from there went on to work for Varian Aerographs until she retired in 1984. After retiring, Allene spent time gardening, fishing, camping and spending time with her family, who she loved very much. Allene is survived by her daughter, Lynn Dobbs of Rodeo, her daughter-in-law Leatha of Rodeo, ten grandchildren and their families, and 18 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Geraldine, her brother Paul, her sister Edith as well as numerous nieces. nephews, cousins and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Delbert, her son Gary, her daughter Phyllis, her parents Waymon and Sadie, her twin sister Eulene, her sister Flora, her brother V.T., and her sister Pearl. Friends and family are invited to attend the visitation and services on Saturday, January 12, 2019. The viewing will be from 2:00-4:00 p.m. with the service starting at 4:00 p.m. at Wilson & Kratzer, Chapel of the Mission Bells, 13644 San Pablo Avenue, San Pablo, CA. A visitation will be Saturday, January 19, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with a memorial service at 1:30 p.m. at Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville, Arkansas. Burial will take place in Briggsville, Arkansas at Mt. Zion Cemetery on January 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m.
