Benny Eldon
Bunting
April 14, 1944 – February 14, 2021
Benny Eldon Bunting age 76 of Dardanelle passed away peacefully in his home on Sunday, February 14, 2021. He spent his final days surrounded by his family. He was born April 14, 1944 in Russellville, Arkansas to the late Oscar Eldon Bunting and Mary Margaret Hodges Bunting Mueller.
Benny was known for his sense of humor and he never met a stranger. He loved to make everyone around him laugh in any way he could. Everyone who knew him will have a funny story to tell, however, not all of them would be appropriate to tell here today. He was loved by many from the day he was born. In fact, he was the first grandchild in his family and was absolutely adored. His mother used to cry to hold him because her sisters never wanted to hand him over.
The pride he had for his kids and grandkids cannot be measured. He loved to watch his kids play sports and reveled in each of their successes, big or small.
He was a great cook and made some of the best barbeque sauce you've ever tasted! Benny was a longtime member of the Yell Co. Wildlife Federation, where he enjoyed getting to cook for the annual Quail Banquet for over 25 years. He loved to hunt and fish. He spoiled his dog Piper so much that he made sure that she had a home cooked meal prepared every night. He was a huge Sand Lizard Football fan and listened to every game on the radio. He was a Razorback Football fan too, back when they were winning. He loved reminiscing on his younger days, going places with his Papa Hodges, and sharing family history. He took pride in his work and truly enjoyed it.
Benny and Jeanie spent 44 years of marriage together full of love and laughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Lyn Bunting. Survivors include his wife, Jeanie Bunting; five children, Becki Bryson (Clayton), Kim Smith (Carl), Bryan Bunting (Anneke), Davy Bunting (Lisa), and Jessie Bunting (Cory); one brother, Danny Bunting, Sr. (Suzie); one sister, Phyllis Bull (Roy); ten grandchildren, Zac Bryson (Tiffany), Zayne Bryson (Brittany), Logan Moudy, (Shayley), Carson Meredith (Hayley), Shelby Smith, Jordyn Bunting, Gage Bunting, Tristen Crites, Breya Bunting, Kade Bunting; and five great-grandchildren, Cameron Willis, Rylan Meredith, Julian Bryson, Lathan Meredith and Carter Bryson.
Visitation will be from 12:00PM to 2:00PM, Monday, February 22, 2021 at Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel in Dardanelle. Private family service will follow at 2:30PM at the Calvary Baptist Church in Dardanelle with Bro. Mark Gower officiating. Benny will be laid to rest in Durvin Cemetery next to his son Lyn.
Pallbearers will be Tim Bull, Jason Bull, Justin Bull, Danny Lynn Bunting, Dusty Bunting and Derek Bunting.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Members of the Yell County Wildlife Federation and employees of Bunting Electric.
