Billy Charles Mitchell, Sr., 74, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Bill was born September 27, 1948 in Danville, Arkansas to Leon Duncan "Doug" Mitchell and Erma "June" English Mitchell. He served in the Army during the Vietnam era from 1968-1970. He was a welder (one of the best) for many years. Bill was a TRUE cowboy through and through. In his younger years, he was a team roper and was never without his starched Wranglers, boots, long sleeve western shirt, and cowboy hat. No matter what the weather was, hot or cold, he always dressed this way. But he didn't just dress the part, he was the quintessential cowboy. He had horses, loved hunting, and the country life. For numerous years, he and a whole group would travel to Wyoming for a week-long elk and deer hunt. Now, they did not have a cabin or deer lease, they truly roughed it. A tent was used, cooking was done by campfire and even a mule was brought along to get up the mountains. He also enjoyed coyote hunting and had many walker hound dogs that he hunted with. Bill had a sense of humor like no other. He was a prankster and could always make you laugh. There was only one Bill Mitchell and he will be truly missed by those that knew and loved him.

Bill was preceded in death by his son, Billy Charles Mitchell, Jr.; his parents, Doug and June Mitchell; and his brothers, Dougie Mitchell and Larry Mitchell.

He is survived by his daughters, Charlsey "Charlie" Wheeler and her husband, Matt and Sara Thompson and her husband, Jeff; grandchildren, Lexi Mitchell, Billy Case Mitchell, Rip Wheeler, Jackson Wheeler, Maycee Wheeler, and Campbell Wheeler; sister, Nancy Ryan and her husband, Richard; best friends, Brad Drye and his wife, Marcia; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.

A graveside service with military honors will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, February 2,2023 at Earl Ladd Cemetery.
