Bobby Clea "Bob" Staton age 85 of Belleville passed away Wednesday, January 27, 2021 at Chambers Memorial Hospital.
He was born December 9, 1935 in Lonoke, Arkansas to the late James Rube & Lindie Norean Martin.
Bob went to work at the age of 12 years shinning shoes at the barber shop. He worked as a projector operator at the local theater and was also the soda jerk operator, delivered clothes for the cleaners all while attending school and at night he would ride horses and weekends he would rodeo. He graduated Lonoke High School in 1954 then he worked for the Arkansas Highway Department until 1955. He enlisted in the Army September 1, 1955, he married Rose Marie White on November 7, 1955 after 8 weeks of basis training and was discharged in August 28, 1958 with a letter of commendation with a rank of Specialist E5. He returned to Arkansas and started working for Gazette Publishing Company in Little Rock, managed a service station in Lonoke for a time. Went to work for Arkansas Foundary Company in Little Rock for 14 years and got his real estate License during that time. Then he moved to a farm in Yell County to raise cattle and he also worked security at Arkansas Nuclear One Power Plant in Russellville. In 1988 he started a swine farms with Tyson for 14 years. After 15 years he went to work as a licensed security officer for Wayne Farms.
He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Maury Staton; brothers-in-law, Logan "Dump" White and Jim H. White.
Survivors include wife of 65 years Rose Marie White Staton; son James "Jimmy" Staton of Belleville; sister, Betty & Bob Reed of Crow Mountain; sister-in-law, Judy White of Belleville; nieces, Gina & Danny Burson; Dawn Cook all of North Little Rock and a host of family and friends.
Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 pm Monday, February 1, 2021 at Danville Cornwell Funeral Home. Memorial service will be at 2:00 pm Saturday February 6, 2021 at the Belleville City Park with Rev. Tom Sullinger officiating. Bring lawn chairs and observe Covid restrictions by wearing mask and social distancing.
