Bonita Joy Tilmon Church, age 83, passed away on March 10, 2025, at Saint Mary's Regional Medical Center in Russellville, Arkansas. Born on October 20, 1941, in Dardanelle, Arkansas, Bonita was a beloved member of her community. She was a member of the Russellville First Baptist Church and a graduate of Dardanelle High School in 1959. She went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Business Education from Arkansas Tech University.

Bonita dedicated her career to education, teaching at Atkins High School and Russellville High School, where she organized the first homecoming parade and several other activities that continue to this day. She was the first woman elected to the Russellville School Board and the first to serve as its president. Bonita also served as past president of the Junior Auxiliary, the Book Lovers Club, and the Russellville Arts Center.

She was married to Les Church on June 3, 1963, and they enjoyed life together for 65 wonderful years. Bonita was the proud owner of The Other Foot and More Shoe Store, which she ran successfully for 25 years. She loved fashion and shared that with all of her customers.

Bonita is survived by her husband, Les, her daughter, Lezle Church Rupert, and her husband Jason, as well as her cherished granddaughter, Blair Tilmon Rupert. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Betty Church Gaddis Lattin. Bonita was preceded in death by her parents, Paul Pete Tilmon and Rachel Tilmon.

A graveside service to celebrate Bonita's life will be held on March 13, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in Brearley Cemetery at Dardanelle officiated by the Rev. Stephen Davis and the Rev. Mike Cloud.
