Obituary

Cecil "Bruce" Mitchell went home to the Lord on August 3rd, 2024.

Bruce Mitchell was born in St. George, Utah on September 2nd, 1932 to Ina and Stanley Mitchell. Bruce had four siblings, Maxine, Gene, Rose-Ina, and Dianna.

After high school, Bruce joined the United States Air Force. He served honorably as a tail gunner on a B-52 in the 325th Bomber Squadron. He flew missions over the Arctic Circle during the Cold War. He later went on to train as instructor at Castle AFB in Atwater, California. He retired after 21 years of service.

He married Joyce Collins and they had two children. Debie and Rickie. They moved to Colorado and he started an HVAC business. Joyce kept his books and drove him to jobs.

He worked very hard to provide a comfortable life for his family. In 1982, Debie had his first grandson, Robert. And the two of them thoroughly terrorized Joyce. Then a couple years later, Debie had Ryan. And the three of them wreaked havoc that brought him many years of laughter.  And from that point forward, he was known as "Papa."

Joyce and Bruce left Colorado and moved to Yell County in the mid-90's. They purchased a chicken farm and raised chickens for several years before starting a real estate company in Danville. Through that business, they helped many people in the community find homes to build their lives on. He believed he wasn't just selling homes, he was doing what he did best, helping people.

He was blessed with two more grandchildren, John Mitchell and Sierra Mitchell. He also had a great grandson Colton Cross. He was so unbelievably proud of his kids and grandkids and he supported them with unwaivering love and sage advice.

Through the years, he never stopped. He never stopped working, providing, caring, or giving.  He fixed broken motors and listened when our hearts were broken. He never missed a chance to tell a joke or make his wife give him a dirty look. His life is a testament to the qualities he shared with every single person he encountered.

He is survived by his loving wife Joyce Mitchell, his sister Dianna Hoyt, sister-in-law Sheila Collins, daughter Debie (Andy) and son Rickie. His grandchildren, Robert (Amanda), Ryan (Cassidy), John, and Sierra. Great Grandson Colton, nieces Joy (Vernon), Shawnda (Mark), Bridgette and Amber, nephews Cliff (Rhonda), Donald (Sandra), Daniel and dozens of great nieces and nephews and people he was proud to call his friends.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please do something nice for someone every day, that's what he would want.
