Charles Henry Fowler, 86, of Little Rock formerly of Danville passed away August 2, 2022.

He was born in the Yell County Arkansas community of Mickle Switch (between Ola and Danville) before dawn on December 27, 1935, the only child of Joe Fowler and Hazel Michael Fowler. He had fond memories of growing up in Yell County and attending Danville schools. He graduated from Danville High School in 1953. That summer he secretly wed his sweetheart, Charlene Van Zandt, a union that would endure for 69 years.

Charles worked 37 years for Arkansas Power & Light in engineering and managerial positions in Little Rock, Russellville, Stuttgart, Sheridan and Searcy. During his professional career, he was a member of the Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club and served two terms as president of the Grant County Chamber of Commerce. He retired from the company in 1991 and built a retirement home outside of Danville.

He was a lifelong and faithful member of the Church of Christ and a congregational song leader for many years. He enjoyed Bible study, reading, watching movies, riding his bike and exercising. Over the years he pursued beekeeping and woodworking and learned to play the harmonica and guitar.

Survivors include his wife, Charlene; son Steven Lynn Fowler (Ana) of Russellville; daughter Sheila Galatowitsch (Manfred) of Little Rock; three grandsons and four great-grandchildren; stepbrother Calvin Billingsley (Phyllis) of Mulberry; several first cousins; and his extended Van Zandt family.

Memorial service will be 10:00 am Saturday, August 6, 2022 at the Leon Millsap Center 1301 East 8 ^th St in Danville.
