Charlsie Delara Hunt

Charlsie Delara Wilson Hunt from Havana, AR passed away Monday July 27,2026.

Born March 23, 1936 in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She was raised in East Texas, going to school in New London, Texas. After graduation she went to secretarial school and got a job at the IRS in Tyler Texas. This is where she met her husband George Hunt in 1956 and they married 3 months later in January 1957. They were married for 26 wonderful years before he passed from cancer. A few years later she met her special friend Sterling Griffin and they stayed good friends until he passed in 2013.

Besides being a secretary, and homemaker, most of her career was as a chicken farmer. She raised chickens from 1976 until 1998. After that she loved to travel and square dance. She and Sterling founded the Booneville Promenaders Square Dancers.

She moved to Fayetteville AR. in 2011 to be closer to her daughter. But she still liked to stay active with the Springdale Senior Citizens Center. She volunteered there, played numerous games of cards with her sweet friends and still traveled as much as her health allowed. If she was anything-she was independent and loyal. Life threw her a lot of hard knocks and curve balls but it never got her down.

In 2023 she came back to Havana to live-still independently-until her passing.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Coburn Wilson and LaVada Jones. her husband George and her good friend Sterling Griffin.

She is survived by her son Chris Hunt (Sherrie) of Magazine, Lynn Tapp (Toby) of Havana, her granddaughter Kaylie Raggio (Calvert) of Magazine, grandson, Kenneth Massey (Cassie) of Booneville and two great grandsons Jett and Jaxx Massey. Her two very dear “daughters” Sterella Marketic and Pam Griffin of Sapulpa, Ok.

Visitation will be at Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville this July 31, Friday evening from 5-7pm and funeral services will be at WYC Church Of Christ in Havana on Saturday August 1st at 10am. Burial will be at Moores Chapel.

Pallbearers are Daryl Wiseman, Don Bright, Frankie Brown, Jeff Jackson, Kenneth Massey, and Calvert Raggio.
