Cloma Louise Lewis

Cloma Louise Lewis, lovingly known by many as Weez, Aunt Louise, Weezie, and Weezer, and most importantly as Mom and Nana to her children and grandchildren, passed away on August 26, 2026, at the age of 75.

Louise was born on January 6, 1951, to Cloma Bessie Avery Townsell and James Lloyd “Tood” Townsell.

To know Louise was to know one of the kindest and most loving souls you could ever meet. She was a true lover of people. She treasured her family, enjoyed time spent with friends, and found happiness simply being surrounded by the people she loved. Above everything else, Louise loved her family deeply, and the love she gave them will continue to live on through generations.

Louise was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, James Townsell and Bobby Townsell; her sister, Regina Wheeler; her son, Tyson Turnage; and her beloved grand pup, Tator.

Left to cherish her memory and the music she loved so dearly are her husband, George “Buzz” Turnage; her daughters, Kristie Dawson (Jerry) and Amy Gibson (Steven Kinder); her grandchildren, Allen, Summer (Adam), Jared (Maddie), Ashley, and Katie Turnage; and her great-granddaughter, Harper Grace Dawson.

She is also survived by her brothers, Jacky Townsell (Lila) and Lloyd Townsell; and her sister, Louann Rudkin (Bill) and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and great nephews along with many cherished friends.

Louise also held a very special place in her heart for all of her fur grandbabies: Roscoe, Lola, Willard, Dallas, Loxxie, Charlie Tucker, and sweet Rider, who remained by her side during her illness.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Louise’s caregivers, Acacia, Jessica, Cassie, Holly, and Kathy, for the kindness, compassion, comfort, and love they showed their mom.

Outside of her family, few things brought Louise more joy than music. Music wasn’t simply something she listened to. It was woven into who she was, and it became one of the many gifts she passed down to her family.

One of Louise’s greatest treasures was the jukebox given to her by her brother Bobby. Over the years, that jukebox and her collection of records became the soundtrack to countless family memories. She loved playing records for her grandchildren as they grew up, sharing the songs she loved while creating memories they will carry with them forever.

At Christmas, Louise made sure that love of music continued. She bought record players for her children and grandchildren and showered them with records each Christmas, carefully giving them music to discover, enjoy, and one day remember her by. Because of her, the love of a good song, the sound of a record playing, and the memories attached to music will live on for generations.

Louise taught her family how to love deeply, how to enjoy the simple moments, how to laugh with the people around them, and, of course, how much better life can be with a little music playing in the background.

There will never be another Weezie. There will never be another mom or Nana quite like ours.

And while there is now an empty place in the family that can never truly be filled, Louise left behind something that can never be taken away: the love she gave, the memories she made, and a lifetime of songs that will forever bring her back to those who loved her.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 31, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the chapel.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Welcome Home Missionary Baptist Church, with Bro. Jackey Townsell officiating.

Louise will be laid to rest at Casa Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Allen Lunsford, Jared Dawson, Adam Land, Monte Rogers, Josh Templeman, and David Brown. Honorary pallbearers will be her nephews

So, when an old record begins to play, we’ll think of Mom. We’ll turn it up a little louder, remember her smile, and know that somewhere, Weezie is still listening.
