Daniel Bennet
Frost
April 24, 1939 – July 13, 2023
Daniel Bennet Frost; Jr, age 84, of Dardanelle, Arkansas departed this Earth to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Thursday, July 13, 2023. He was born on April 24, 1939 at Parks, Arkansas to Daniel Bennet Frost, Sr. and Lola Mae Oneal Frost.
Dan grew up in Heavener, Oklahoma, where as a young boy, he would ride, groom or even rub horses' sore legs to earn a buck. He believed being around good horses and good horsemen would get him where he wanted to be in life! He had "horse fever" and never recuperated! Dan moved to Arkansas where he lived and worked full time jobs while simultaneously raising Quarter horses. His employment began as a logger, mail carrier, stopping at post offices and serving patrons from Ola to Harvey then back to Ola. Dan later took a job working for Superior Graphite, then Dow Chemical, both in Russellville, Arkansas. In the 80's, Dan took a job transfer with Dow Chemical from Russellville, Arkansas to Houston, Texas. After retiring from Dow, Dan packed up and moved back to his Square Dot Ranch in Yell County, Arkansas, ready to spend the rest of his life raising Quarter Horses.
Some of Dan's most cherished times in life were spending time with his children, grandchildren, or friends at his home ranch; hunting or working on some project with his three brothers, son or nephews; attending family gatherings, where he loved eating his daughter's and sisters-in-laws great cooking; attending worship and praise service at church; being a 21 year AA Member, then leader; sitting on the porch "talking horses" or driving around the countryside looking for another "Good Blooded Quarter Horse" or horseman to talk with.
Dan spent most of his time studying pedigrees, riding, raising, selling or giving away a good horse. He tried to learn from others and share his knowledge with anyone who wanted to talk "good horses". It was very important to Dan to encourage others (especially his kids and friends) to understand the importance of preserving the foundation bloodlines of The American Quarter Horse.
In 2020, at the age of 82 years old, Dan received one of his fondest accomplishments, The 2020 Cumulative Breeder Award from the American Quarter Horse Association. He and his two oldest daughters traveled to Amarillo, Texas to an AQHA Banquet, where he was awarded a Bronze Statue, honoring his "good horse" breeding achievements. Although Dan loved his family, friends and his horses, everyone knew Dan loved his Lord Jesus most and has finally reached his Heavenly Goal!
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents; former wife of 21 years, Charlotte Annette (Keeney) Roberts; daughter, Paula Ann Frost; brother, Jack Oneal Frost, and son-in-law, Danny Lee Reed.
Survivors include five children, Regeneia Frost Dugan (Derek) of Hot Springs, Arkansas, Donna Frost Reed of Plainview, Arkansas, Laudra Frost Calef (Edwin) of Angleton, Texas, Mahota Frost of Virginia Beach, Virginia, Daniel Clark Frost (Lauren) of Dardanelle, Arkansas; three stepchildren, Buck Gililland (Pam) of Hector, Arkansas, Shawn Frost (Cassie) of Angleton, Texas, Heath Frost of Angleton, Texas; two brothers, Donald Frost (Lucretia) of Heavener, Oklahoma, Bill Frost (Betty) of Rover, Arkansas; twelve grandchildren, Matthew Hulsey, Kayla Hulsey, Andy Mills, CJ Dugan, Aidan Breedlove, Keara Breedlove, Alyssa Calaf, Adienna Calaf, Ezra Calaf, Kaia Calaf, Emma Johnson, Ryatt Frost; three great grandchildren, Alexis Mills, Shawn Mills, Layla Mills; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and his Dardanelle AA Family, Apostolic Lighthouse Church Family, Mitchell's Nursing Home Family and countless wonderful friends and family throughout the country.
