David Alfred “D.A.” Bahus, 76, of Dover, Arkansas, left his earthly home on May 28, 2026, at Baptist Health Medical Center in Little Rock, Arkansas.
Born on December 26, 1949, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, to Joseph Bahus and Althea (Turner) Bahus, D.A. lived a life marked by service, family, and a quick wit that brought laughter to those around him.
David proudly served his country as a Vietnam veteran. He later retired from General Electric in Jonesboro after 35 years. He also retired from active duty with the Arkansas Army National Guard in 2009 following many years of dedicated service to his state and nation.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife of 40 years, Monta Bahus; his son, Jason Huffman; his sister, Helen Saia; his canine companion, Pookie; and many other loved ones.
He is survived by his daughters, Angela Hunt of Fayetteville and Holly Peeler of Russellville; his grandsons, Joseph Hunt (Jessica Ginsberg), Stephen Hunt (Emilee), Zane Peeler, and Drew Peeler; two great-grandchildren; his sister, Diana Goodwin; and those who knew and loved him.
A man of Christian faith, David found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He was an avid sports fan who could often be found watching multiple games at once, flipping between channels while also keeping up with scores or watching games on his phone. He especially loved the Arkansas Razorbacks and rarely missed an opportunity to cheer them on.
David was a proud supporter of his children and grandchildren and enjoyed attending ballgames, school events, and activities throughout the years. As a devoted Dover Pirates fan, he was often a familiar face in the stands. He also enjoyed spending time outside, piddling and working around his house and yard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arkansas Freedom Fund, P.O. Box 411, Atkins, Arkansas 72823, or to a charity of your choice in David’s memory.
A private family military honors flag presentation ceremony will be held at a later date.
