Delma C. Merritt age 97 of Dardanelle passed away Sunday, November 7, 2021 at Mitchell's Nursing Home in Danville. He was born January 23, 1924 in Dardanelle, Arkansas to the late Henry C. Merritt and Nora Robinson Merritt. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, an Army/Aircorp WWII Veteran, he and his late wife, Polly, operated the Yell County Gin in Dardanelle. He was also a Charter Member of the Dardanelle Lions Club, Charter Member of the Bay Ridge Country Club, co-founder of Northeast Yell County Water Association, Farm Family of the Year in 1965, past board member of Federal Land Bank and past board member of Arkansas Valley Bank. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 72 years, Polly Coffey Merritt; brothers, Dana Merritt, Denver Merritt; sister, Elizabeth Lane and a son-in-law, K. C. Hansen.

Survivors include three children, Dane Merritt, David Merritt (Kay), Teresa Hansen DeMier (Will); six grandchildren, Jason Merritt (Kathleen), Jake Merritt (Allison), Marissa Pierson (Brandon), Dylan Merritt (Alicia), Natalie Brown (Cody), Michelle Hansen and fiancé Lee Grigsby and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Rev. Jim Benfer officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. at the chapel. Burial will be in Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle.

Pallbearers will be Steve Balloun, Jake Merritt, Dylan Merritt, Cody Brown, Lee Grigsby, and Brandon Pierson.
