Dennis "Butch"
Lee Walls
July 11, 1954 – March 31, 2026
Dennis Lee "Butch" Walls age 71 of Bigelow, passed away Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at Baptist Medical Center in Little Rock. He was born July 11, 1954 in Siloam Springs, Arkansas to the late John Walls and Bernice Addington Walls. Dennis was a retired teacher and coach and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Decatur, Arkansas. Butch was a devoted husband, father, and Pops. He cared deeply for his family and loved them in a big way. He loved sports, especially the Arkansas Razorbacks and the New York Yankees, and cherished simple joys like collecting Hot Wheels for his grandchildren. A former basketball player at Northark and John Brown University, he carried his love for the game throughout his life.
Coach Walls will be remembered for the joy he brought to everyone around him. He loved to laugh, tell stories, and connect with people. He was always sharing memories of his family, moments that made others smile, and stories from his years teaching and coaching. He could recall every detail of the teams he led, whether it was a championship season or a year spent building something special, and he stayed just as proud and competitive through it all. His impact reached far beyond the classroom and court/course/field/track, touching countless lives through his encouragement and kindness. He never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone feel seen. He often reminded those around him, "Smile, Jesus loves you, and so do I," a message that perfectly reflects the way he lived every day.
Survivors include his wife, Laura Walls; three children, Travis Walls, Tara Adams (Nathan), Tyler Walls (Ashley); one brother, David Joe Walls; three sisters, Janice Mason (Carl), Melinda McCollum, June Walls; six grandchildren, Justice Walls, Gracelyn Walls, Gus Adams, Willow Walls, Opal Adams, Stoney Walls and numerous nieces and nephews.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 2, 2026 @ 2PM at the Community Center, 310 Maple Ave, Decatur, Arkansas 72722
In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to honor Butch's memory with a donation to the American Heart Association or your local Boys and Girls Club.
