Dolores Elenita “Nita” LaRue, age 75, of Perry County, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 30, 2026.

Born on January 28, 1951, in Aplin, Arkansas, Nita was the daughter of Frances Maureen (Kidder) Williams and Gilbert Bernard Williams. She was the fourth of five children born to the Williams family.

As a young girl, Nita moved with her family to Tulare County, California, where she spent much of her childhood. She often found herself following in the footsteps of her two older sisters and enjoyed playing the clarinet in her school band. Eventually, the family returned to Arkansas, where Nita would make her home.

In 1972, Nita married James Edgar LaRue Jr. of Dover, Arkansas. Together they welcomed three children—one son and two daughters. Although their marriage later ended in divorce, Nita remained devoted to her children, raising them in Perry County, Arkansas. She never remarried, dedicating her life to her family and finding her greatest joy in being a mother and grandmother.

Nita will be remembered for her quiet spirit, gentle heart, and unwavering love for her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her kindness, strength, and steadfast devotion to those she loved will leave a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew her.

She is survived by her children, Chandra Whelan of Albert Lea, Minnesota, Roy LaRue of Rover, Arkansas, and Paula Burgess and husband Christopher of Dover, Arkansas; eleven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; her siblings, Willard Williams and wife Marilynn of California, Lavon Cowdell of Connecticut, Dorris Wallace and husband Jimmy of Arkansas, and Joetta Williamson and husband Mark of Arkansas; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frances Maureen (Kidder) Williams and Gilbert Bernard Williams, as well as numerous cherished aunts and uncles.

Nita’s greatest accomplishment was the love she poured into her family. Her life was a testament to perseverance, compassion, and selfless devotion. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will continue to live on through the many lives she touched.
