Donald Ray "Pop" Ellison, 74 of Ola, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at Conway Regional Health System in Conway. He was born January 18, 1938, in Birta, Arkansas to Vernon Edwin and Lillie Verdell George Ellison. He retires as a mechanic for Entergy, had also been a machine operator for Rock Island Railroad, and had worked in maintenance at Ola Schools. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Jeremy Foster, and a daughter-in-law, Christine Elizabeth Ellison. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Marjorie Hill Ellison; six children, Bradley and Brenda Ellison of Birta, John and Dana Ellison of North Carolina, Phillip and Cathy Ellison of Dardanelle, Chris and Vickie Ellison of Birta, Karen and Rick Engebretson of Washington State, Mark and Samantha Ellison of Plainview; 21 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers will be his grandsons, Matt Miller, Blake Miller, Brian Ellison, Michael Ellison, Phillip Michael Ellison, Curtis Ellison, Jonathan Ellison, and Joseph Ellison. Funeral services will be Tuesday, 2:30 p.m. at the Ola Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. John David Keeling officiating. Interment will be at Birta Cemetery, Birta. Visitation will be held Monday 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home, Danville.
