Donald E. Spears

Donald Eugene Spears age 71 of Dardanelle died Friday, June 3 at his home. He was born January 27, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri to the late William David and Ruby Hill Spears. He was an infantry paratrooper who served two tours of duty in Vietnam, earning the Bronze Star, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and Vietnam Campaign Medal. He was a member of the DAV in California and Russellville, serving as past Commander in California.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Bill Spears and sister, Kay Spears.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Vinita Potter Spears, children and spouses, Donnie and Sue Spears of Dardanelle; Debbie and Kevin Souza of Ripon, California; Teresa and Jeff Webb of Austin, Indiana; Carol Spears of Dardanelle; 12 grandchildren, Donnie Jr., Amanda, Jennifer, Heather, Kevin Jr., Zack, Rochelle, Christopher, Krystan, Steve, Kayla and Dyllan, 14 great-grandchildren, Madalynn, Brennen, Curtis, Cammeron, Gracie, Alyson, McKinisie, Colt, Trinton, Zyler, Kairzma, Keylee, Tanner and Landon.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are by Cornwell Funeral Home, Dardanelle.
