Lipe
February 19, 1934 – June 30, 2022
Doris Helen Avaritt Lipe, age 88, of Havana, AR. departed this life Thursday, June 30, 2022, at Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home in Russellville, Arkansas.
Doris was born February 19, 1934, in Benton, Arkansas. She was the daughter of the late Dillard L. & Olive Elsie Howell Avaritt. Doris was a member of the Church of Christ for 75 years.
On December 11, 1955, Doris was united in marriage with Garland Lipe of Havana, Arkansas. She was living in Tucumcari, New Mexico, at the time. They were married almost 53 years when Garland passed away November 19, 2008.
She was a supporting wife to Garland throughout his many years of preaching. She loved to cook and have company. One of her greatest joys was feeding people.
Doris had a beautiful alto voice, as did her Mother. She enjoyed singing in church, singing while she worked, and singing lullabies to her babies.
She was a loving Mother and wonderful friend to her children.
In 2004 when Doris was almost 70 years old, she went on dialysis. She was 12 years old when she lost her Mother to kidney failure, and her sister and two of her brothers had also been on dialysis. She never complained about the ordeal. She was always matter of fact that she had to go because it kept her alive.
She was preceded in death by her husband of almost 53 years, Garland Lipe; four brothers, George Avaritt, Kenneth Avaritt, Linston Avaritt and D.L. Avaritt Jr. and one sister, Ovella Wyly.
She is survived by one son, Dan Lipe and wife, Deborah, of Belleville; three daughters, Gina Lipe and Jan Lipe of Havana and Jil Lipe Duralde of Brunswick, MD.; one step-grandson, Brian Cox, and his wife Rebekah, of Dardanelle; one step-great grandson, Ryan Cox of Dardanelle and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Davita Dialysis in Russellville for the 18 1/2 years of kindness and care for their Mother. The family would also like to thank Dr. Thurlby and the nurses and staff of Arkansas Hospice River Valley Home for their kindness and support during her last days.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, July 5, 2022, at 10:00 am at the Havana Cemetery, Havana, Arkansas. Visitation will be Monday, July 4, 2022, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Cornwell Funeral Home in
