Dorothy Buckman Dickson age 89 of Belleville passed away Wednesday, June 10, 2015 at Mitchell's Nursing Home. She was born October 10, 1925 near Belleville, Arkansas to the late Henry N. and Mamie Farmer Buckman. Dorothy retired from teaching after 38 years in the Western Yell County Elementary School. She graduated from Arkansas Tech and was a member of Arkansas Retired Teachers and Yell County retired Teachers Association. She was an active member of the Havana Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church where she served as Sunday school teacher and was active in Ladies Missionary Circle. She served on the board of the Yell County Special Services School, was a volunteer at the Chambers Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, served on the West Yell County Cancer Board, Yell County Retired Teachers Association, Havana EH Club and Yell County Cattlemen's Association. She was interested in children and the community. She was a wife, mother, teacher, volunteer and a woman years ahead of her time. Survivors include her husband of 69 years Robert G. Dickson; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert L. and Elisa Dickson of Harrison, Arkansas; daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Stan McFerran of Imperial, Missouri; grandchildren, Karen McFerran of St. Louis, Missouri; Tiffany Dickson of New York, New York; Stephen McFerran of Imperial, Missouri; Michael McFerran of Alton, Illinois; great-grandchildren, Kathryn McFerran; Jacob McFerran; Elizabeth Pruitt; sister-in-law Janette Gwazda of Chicago, Illinois; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Havana Methodist Church with Rev. Howard Wheeler and Rev. John McCourt officiating. Burial will be at Havana Cemetery. Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. Sunday June 14, at Cornwell Funeral Home. Pallbearers include Bob Rogers, Charlie Bennett, David Lasiter, Johnny Foster Jr., Tommy Fink, Charles Yandell, Whick Stapleton, and Charles Webster. Honorary pallbearers include Hoover Willard and Steve Wagner. Memorials may be made to Western Yell Elementary School or Havana Presbyterian Church.
