Douglas Randolph "Doug" Vess age 73 of Plainview went to be with his Heavenly Father on Wednesday, January 6th, 2016 at his home.

He was born May 4th, 1942 in Havana, Arkansas to the late George and Liddie Cliffton Vess. Doug worked for Thermogas in Danville for 25 years, and owned Vess Equipment in Dardanelle for many years. He was an avid auctioneer for 30 years, up until his death. He loved his community and supported it in many ways by giving of his time and love to individuals in need. He was an amazing Dad, Papa, and friend with a very caring & compassionate heart.

He is survived by his first wife of 33 years and loving mother of his children, Johnnie Sue Ray Vess of Danville; and his second wife & best friend, Jan Vess of Plainview; children, Shela & Larry Schemel of Springdale; Rocky & Penny Vess of Rose Creek; Lisa & Bob Powell of Danville; brothers, Emory Vess of Danville; Adrian Vess of Waxahachie, TX.; Carl Vess of Sand Springs, OK.; sister Joy Nell Bailey of Sapulpa, OK.; grandchildren, Kristen Schemel; Alex Schemel; Kaitlyn Schemel; Josh & Lindsey Pitts; Blake & Kristen Pitts; Evan Vess; Colton Vess; Dustin Powell; Jacob Powell; great-grandson, Dawson Ryan.

Funeral service will be 2:00 pm Saturday, January 9, 2015 at the Danville First Baptist Church with Bro. Stacy Lisenbey and Mr. Owen Yandell officiating. Burial will be at Havana Cemetery. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 pm at the church before the service.

Pallbearers include Charles Yandell, Cliff Mullins, Leonard Garrison, Justin Madding, Kenneth Vess and Brad Spikes.

Honorary pallbearers include Keith Vess, Carney Potter, J.B. Flemming, Rodney Bailey, Glenn Bailey, T.A. McConnell, Kerry McConnell, Jeff Welch and Johnnie McIntosh.
