Edna Cain

Edna Haney Chambers Heath Cain was born June 24, 1916 at Dardanelle to George Washington Haney and Rosa Luella Douglas Haney. Edna was a homemaker, a lover of flowers, her yard was always full of beautiful blossoms and her garden was always yielding more than enough to feed the family. Many people will remember the times they bought fresh milk and eggs from Edna and Ovid Chambers. Others came each year to choose their Christmas tree from the land. The quilts that they would buy from Edna or those she quilted for them. Edna belonged to the First Assembly of God of Dardanelle for most of her life, beginning as a young teen walking five miles each Sunday to go to church. She loved God very much and right up to the last she would tell her doctor, the nurses, aids and all visitors, God is in control, Ill live as long as he wants me to, then Ill go to sleep here and wake up in Heaven, which she did on Monday, October 24, 2011. She was preceded in death by her parents; her three husbands, Ovid Chambers, John Henry Heath and George Cain; brothers, Lossie Haney, George Haney, Will Haney, Dewey Haney, Cletus Haney and Pleaze Haney; sisters, Hester Haney Hodges, Mary Haney Pearson and Mattie Haney Adams; one granddaughter, Raquel Jay McMaken.

Survivors include one daughter, Cilestene Chambers Jay and son-in-law Rev. David Jay of Dardanelle; one grandson, David Farrell Jay and wife Nita of Blanchard, OK; one sister, Bessie Haney Stewart of Cabot; six great grandchildren, Heather McMaken Cook, Nicole McMaken Boese, Stacey McMaken all of Indiana; Caleb Jay, Kristyn Jay Johnston, Kailyn Jay all of Oklahoma; fourteen great great grandchildren; many nephews and nieces and multitude of friends.

Funeral services will be held 10:00A.M., Friday, October 28, 2011 at the Dardanelle First Assembly of God Church with Bro. Eric Martin officiating. Burial will be in Haney Cemetery. Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers: Alan Robberson, Chris Turic, Jimmy Estala, Alan Wilfong, Gary Smith, Gary Lily. Honorary Pallbearers: Johnny Boren, Franklin Robberson and Jimmy Coffey.
