Elbert "Peanut" Archie Hurst Jr., age 77 of Dardanelle, passed away Monday, May 15, 2023 at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. He was born November 8, 1945 to Elbert Hurst and Christine Dison Hurst. He attended the Dardanelle Church of Christ. He loved playing board games, listening to country music, watching John Wayne movies, wrestling, listening to Dolly Parton songs, and spending time with his family. He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters Virginia Reynolds Derry, Betty Reynolds, Linnie Yeakley; and brothers Kenneth Hurst and Carl Baker.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bobbie Sue Hurst of Dardanelle; children Leslie McConnell of Russellville, Mark Hurst of Dardanelle, and Sandra Darter of Atkins; brother Arley Hurst (Shirley) of Russellville; sisters Annie Cagle of Dardanelle, Kathy Lane (Floyd) of Dardanelle, Debbie Dunn (Lee) of West Memphis, AR and Teresa Spangler of Mississippi; grandchildren Aaron McConnell (Michelle) of Springdale, and Colby (Shelby) McConnell of Russellville; and great-grandchildren Brantley, Brooks, and Linlie McConnell, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle. Visitation will be held 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Wednesday at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle.

Pallbearers will be Aaron McConnell, Colby McConnell, Brian Lane, Scotty Reynolds, James Ramey, and Roger Ramey Jr. Honorary pallbearers are the employees at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehab.
