Emory E. Vess, 96 of Havana, passed away Saturday, December 29, 2018 at Mitchells Nursing Home in Danville. He was born in Havana, Arkansas, May 1, 1922 to the late George M. and Liddie Lois Clifton Vess. Mr. Vess was a World War II Army Veteran, a Purple Heart Recipient, a Mason, and a member and deacon of the Havana Assembly of God Church. He was a retired manager for Petit Jean Poultry in Danville. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lucille Moore Vess; son, Richard Vess; brothers, Doug, Bobby Dell, G.L., and Henry Vess.
Survivors include his brothers, Adrian Vess (Esther) of Waxahachie, Texas, Carl Vess (Wilma) of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; sister, Joy Nell Bailey (Melvin) of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Kathryn Graves (Floyd) of Dillon, Montana, Liz Moore of Lakeland, Florida; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 2 nd at the Havana Assembly of God Church with Bro. Bob Caldwell and Bro. Thomas Mc Coy officiating. Private burial will be in the Havana Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church.
Honorary pallbearers include Tommy Fink, Paul Adair, Jack Underwood, Bob Powell, Rocky Vess, Kenneth Vess, Keith Vess, and Rodney Bailey.
