Gary Lee Jewell age 80 of Paris died Tuesday, December 4, 2018 at Paris Health and Rehab Center. He was born August 24, 1938 at Anderson Township, WI to the late Henry Albert and Ella Grace Thomas Jewell. He was loved by many, he was the kind of person you just liked the moment you met him. Him and his wife carved a home out of the side of a mountain. They lived in a small camper while building a log cabin on the side of the mountain, in between Ola and Danville, Arkansas. The two moved in slightly before their second child was born. There they worked hard to raise their children. Many people loved the Jewells in the area. My aunts and uncles helped my young momma and dad along the way. Gary was a Navy Veteran and was a very skilled hard worker. His skills as a machine operator got him jobs across the U.S.A. As children we were packed up and moved from Arkansas to California, Texas and many other places as he tried to earn a living for his family. We felt like we lived on vacation returning home to our little log cabin when the job was done. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ruby Galvila; infant son, John Lee Jewell; daughter, Betsy Ann Jewell; brother, Dick Jewell and grandchildren, Felicia Childress, Annie Childress and Gearld Jewell Jr.

Survivors include his children, Gaylee Morris (Steven) of Van Buren, AR, Becky Diesiner (Jon) of Placerville, CA, Gearld Jewell of Wetumka, OK, Joshua Jewell of Van Buren, AR; brother, Gene Jewell (Joy) of Dardanelle, AR; sisters, June Anderson and Anne Blair both of Dardanelle, AR; five grandchildren; two great grandchildren and the mother of his children, Lilly Quinalty of Van Buren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle. Burial will be in Petillo Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held Saturday, December 22, 2018, 1:00P.M. to 2:00P.M. at the chapel prior to the service.
