Gene Thomas
Jewell
January 26, 1937 – March 16, 2023
Gene Thomas Jewell, age 86 of Dardanelle, passed away Thursday, March 16, 2023 at his home. He was born January 26, 1937 in Randall, Wisconsin to the late Henry Albert Jewell and Ella Grace Thomas Jewell. He was a hard-working man, working in logging, sawmills, steel plants and refrigeration. Willing to work at anything to take good care of his family. He loved driving his winch truck named "Hitler", especially giving his grandkids rides on it. He loved all music, with a special love for gospel songs and hymns. He enjoyed playing the guitar, the piano and singing. "Very Loudly", and sometimes a little off-key, but always from his heart with praise to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He was a great story teller. We all loved to hear stories from his childhood and from our childhood. He always used his big hands when he talked, with great emphasis. He loved to read, he always had a book going. He passed this love down to all his children. He was very fond of naps in his later years. He often fell asleep while talking, reading, at the grandchildren's ball games, and even in church. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Ruby Gavilla; brothers, Dick Jewell, Gary Jewell; his first wife and the mother of his children, Eva Jewell and a son-in-law, Daniel Rowland.
Survivors include his wife of six and a half years, Joy Jewell; six children, Kathy Rowland (Ricky), Thomas Jewell, Terry Jewell, Kelly Beam (Paul), Kimberly Hopson (John), Chris Jewell (Kim); step son, Lewis Minnie; step daughter, Tanya Willis; eleven grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; one great grandchild on the way; one great great granddaughter due very soon; two sisters, Anne Blair, June Anderson and many nieces, nephews, friends and Mt. George Church of Christ Family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Wednesday, at the Mt. George Church of Christ with Bro. Chris George officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, 5:00P.M. to 7:00P.M. at the Dardanelle First Assembly of God Church. Burial will be in Petillo Hill Cemetery.
