Gladys Gwendleyon (Coonie) Tarkington, born September 3, 1949 in Mt. George, Arkansas to the late Elbert Lee Frost and Goldie Frost. Since 1975, she has been a wonderful and faithful member of the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church, whose members were also her family. She was retired after years of service to the United States Department of Agriculture.

To say she was a wonderful mother to Jeff and Lora is an understatement! They were her life. She was their number one fan in baseball and softball or whatever they were doing. Most importantly, she made sure to instill her love for Jesus Christ into them.

Her three angels, Kelli, Kala, and Shelby are her life's legacy. She loved them more than life itself and is so very proud of them and also their biggest fan in anything they did. She was the most amazing G.G. to her great grandkids and to so many others she accepted into her life.

To know Coonie was to know good food. Chances are that if you knew her at all you have had a meal prepared by her. Although she could not eat for the last several years, she cooked for everyone else on any occasion just to show her love.

Gwen was preceded in death by her father, Elbert Lee Frost of Mt. George; mother, Goldie Frost of Mt. George; brother, Glen Frost of Mt. George and great grandson, Dustin Jones of Dardanelle.

She is survived by her son, Jeff and Rhonda Reece of Dardanelle; daughter, Lora Beasley and Donna Rose of Mt. George; granddaughters, Kelli and Adam Smith of London, Kala and Cory Small of Hector, Shelby and Chance Yates of Plainview; step granddaughter, Ashlee Rose of Russellville; step grandson, Jackey and Hannah Kendrick of Houston; sisters, Gerldean and John Mills of Dardanelle, Sherry and Kenny McCoy of Fayetteville; brother, J.C. and Ruby Frost of Mt. George and thirteen great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00A.M, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church with Charles Trusty and Michael McCoy officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 9:00A.M. to 10:00A.M. at the church prior to the service. Burial will be in Dacus Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Kevin Mills, Lloyd Frost, Andy Ward, Mike McElmurry, James Manett, and Paul Darter.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church.
