Glenn Paul Austin, age 78, of Dover, died at home surrounded by his wife and children, on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Glenn was born in Paron, AR, June 10, 1945 to William Elmo and Arlie (Roper) Austin.
Glenn was a self taught master mechanic, who was introduced to auto mechanics by Kenneth Summers of Dover, when Glenn was just 15 years old. That introduction, led to a life long love of motors, antique cars and drag racing. Glenn ran several business over his lifetime including the 1909 Automobile Company, Austin's Used Cars, and AUC Trucking, Inc. However, Glenn's biggest accomplishment was as a member of the church and a believer in Jesus Christ.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother James Willard Austin of Jerusalem and a brother Billy Ray Austin of Russellville.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Carolyn (Merritt) Austin, of Dover, two daughters, Carri Lynn Austin Hamm (Phil Wyatt)of Dover, Myra Cochran (Ernie) of London, and a son, John Paul Austin(Chareen-his favorite)of Dover. He is also survived by two beloved granddaughters, Hailee Marie Austin of Dover, Ava Caroline Delma Harris, of London along with a brother, Donald E. Austin, of Dallas, TX.
Cremation by Cornwell Funeral Home, with a private family burial at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Jerusalem, AR at a later date.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 27th at MAK Daddy's Old Time Meet & Eat, with come and go fellowship beginning at 4pm.
