Harry James (Jim) Daly, 90, of Apex, North Carolina, formerly of Fort Smith and Dardanelle, Arkansas passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2023, in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was born February 1, 1933 in Little Rock, Arkansas to the late Dr. Harry James Daly, Sr. and Julia Elizabeth Harris Daly. A few months later they moved to Corinth, Mississippi where they lived for 14 years. They then moved to Fort Smith, Arkansas.
After high school Jim enlisted in the United States Air Force and was a gunner during the Korean war. He received his Architectural Engineering degree in Sacramento, California and worked for AeroJet General in Sacramento. He worked in the nuclear power field in many states for over 30 years. Afterwards he worked in real estate at Coldwell Banker James R. Ford in Russellville, Arkansas and Coldwell Banker Fleming-Lau in Fort Smith, Arkansas.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Anna Lou Hale Daly. He is survived by his wife Sue Epperson Daly of Apex, North Carolina, formerly of
Fort Smith, Arkansas; four children: Julia Daly Toth, husband Tom of Granbury, Texas; Jamie Daly of Dardanelle, Arkansas; John Daly of Dardanelle. Arkansas; and Jim Kolp, wife Sherri of Van Buren, Arkansas. Eight grandchildren: Brandon Toth of Granbury, Texas; Ryan Toth, wife Sarah of Granbury, Texas; Shynah Daly of Dardanelle, Arkansas; Sierra Lynne Daly of Dallas, Texas; Sara Beth Daly of Memphis, Tennessee; and John Daly II of Dardanelle, Arkansas; Ashley Kolp McKenzie, husband, Daniel of Van Buren, Arkansas; Lindsay Kolp Seubold, husband Josh of Van Buren, Arkansas. Seven great grandchildren: Mason, Kylee, Addison, Hendrix, Dylan, Brody and Blakely; brother Ben Daly, wife Ann of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and many nephews and nieces. Two step-children: Sandra Henderson, husband Mark of Apex North Carolina; Steve Kenney, wife Dana of Atlanta, Georgia.; step- grandson Kevin Henderson, wife Vicky of Woodbury, Minnesota; step-granddaughter Jennifer Henderson of Asheville, North Carolina; two step-great-grandchildren Blake and Kyle Henderson of Woodbury, Minnesota,
He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Dardanelle where he served as an Elder and a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Smith, Arkansas. He regularly attended the Cambridge Village Chapel services in the independent living complex where he and his wife lived in Apex, North Carolina. He loved golfing, the Arkansas Razorbacks, country music, watching sports on TV and, lately, watercolor classes, reading and, importantly to him, Bible study.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, December 19, 2023, at Cornwell Funeral Chapel in Dardanelle with Dr. Jamie Mitchell officiating. Burial will be private in Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle following the service.
