Obituary

Hazel James Martin began her eternal life peaceably on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at 4:00PM at the age of 92 ending her battle with pulmonary fibrosis.

Hazel enjoyed life to its fullest whether traveling to Europe in her earlier years with friends, developing her beautiful yard and gardens, going to cattle shows or spending hours in the kitchen canning or making a delicious meal for her family. Born on September 20,1931 to Mr. and Mrs. Troy & Ozelma Wilkerson James of Havana, Arkansas, she was one of 5 siblings. She and her husband of 72 years moved back to Arkansas after living in Texas for 50 years while she worked for Texas City School District and her husband worked for Monsanto.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Helen Jackson and Norma Jean Ferguson, and her brother Herbert Lee James.

Survived by her husband, Carroll Martin, her sister Mary Ellen Wade, sons, Don and his wife Betty, and Michael, her grandsons, Clayton and Derek Martin, her great grand-daughter Trinity Martin, and special family friend Will Detering.

She will be missed by countless friends in Texas and Arkansas and remembered as one who was always welcoming, kind and caring.

Services will be held Saturday, October 7th at 1:00 pm at the Upper Spring Creek Freewill Baptist Church with visitation on Friday evening from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at funeral home. Burial will be at Upper Spring Creek Cemetery.
