Hollie T.
Hon Jr.
January 24, 1941 – May 19, 2019
Hollie T. Hon Jr. age 78 of Hector, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2019 at Arkansas Heart Hospital surrounded by loved ones. He was born January 24, 1941 in London, Arkansas to Hollie Hon Sr. and Opal Martin Hon.
He is survived by his loving and devoted companion of twenty-one years, Janice (Jan) Phillips; sister, Marilyn LaDell Fields; special friend, Scott Hill; several nieces and nephews; cousins, and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hollie and Opal Hon; sister, Sharon Martin (Wesley) and brother-in-law, CR Buddy Fields Jr.
He was a 1957 graduate of Russellville High School. He received his Bachelor of Science in Business and Administration at Arkansas Polytechnical College in 1962. He was a member of the Blue Key National Honor Fraternity. He was selected into the Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges. He was a distinguished military graduate of the Reserve Officer Training Corp. He proudly served our country in the United States Army where he was an expert rifleman in the 42 nd Artillery. He was a commissioned Officer as 2 nd Lieutenant, at the time of his honorable discharge.
His careers spanned several decades in Pope County. He was a businessman and entrepreneur. He was a local farmer where he raised beef cattle and chickens. He was a realtor and broker and co-owner of S&H Reality. He and Jan operated Arkansas White Oak Bulldog Kennels. At the time, it was Arkansas' only state of the art, certified kennel. Several of their English Bulldogs were prized show dogs, with one earning champion: Arkansas White Oak Champion Silver Bullet.
He took pleasures in the things that brought him joy: spending time with family and friends and gardening. He shared his beautiful flowers with many, which always brought a smile to their face. He got pleasure out of giving. He was a huge animal lover. He cherished his beloved pets, Cricket, Silver Bullet and Slapper; along with the many strays that came around his home. One of his favorite quotes was "if you have never loved an animal, there's a portion of your soul that has never awakened."
A memorial service will be held at 10:00A.M., Wednesday, June 5, 2019 at the Cornwell Chapel in Dardanelle with Brad Neiman and Scott Hill officiating.
