Ima Virginia Biggs Putman age 95 departed this life at Chambers Memorial Hospital in Danville, Arkansas on Sunday, November 15, 2020.   She was born in Waveland, Arkansas on February 6, 1925 to John Wesley and Viola Jewel Dempsey Biggs. Ima was the oldest of six girls.   She attended school at Waveland and Havana School graduating in 1943 as valedictorian. After finishing high school she moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to work for Douglas Aircraft. She was a real "Rosie the Riveter" and also retired from Today's Kids in Booneville, Arkansas. She was a lifetime member of the Waveland Sunday School and Waveland Methodist Church. She was also a long time \

\ member of the Waveland Extension Homemakers Club. Ima loved quilting and made beautiful quilts during her lifetime, including several for her grandchildren. She loved to cook, bake and was a very competitive domino player. She was a proud life long Democrat who cast her vote recently for the new President Elect.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Earnest (Peno) Putman, her sisters, Vonda Biggs, Vernon Claggett, Billie Brasher, and Faye Derrick.

She is survived by her children, Jeanne (John) Andrews of Booneville ,Arkansas, Ronnie Putman of Waveland, Arkansas, Janice (Dewayne) Mack of Kirby, Arkansas, Dennis Putman of Waveland, Arkansas and her sister Johnnie Morton of Belleville, Arkansas. She is also survived by grandchildren, Melody, Justin, Sherman, Josh,Simon, Casie, Charity and Shawn as well as seventeen great-grandchildren. Ima is also survived by her long time neighbor and domino playing partner, Opal Nelms. She was blessed to have as caretakers Elaine and Cricket and a very special caretaker that put a twinkle in her eye, Emmett.

Pallbearers are Ronnie Putman, Dennis Putman, Justin Andrews, Sherman Putman, Josh Allen and Shawn Mattson.

Honorary pallbearers will be her great-grandsons.

Graveside service will be 2:00 pm Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at Moore's Chapel Cemetery in Waveland.
