Lieutenant Colonel Jack Alan Storey

1928-2020

-A True American Hero-

Jack Alan, an honored veteran passed away peacefully July 1, 2020 at Brookridge Cove in Morriliton AR. He was 91. He was born October 21 ^st , 1928 in Hector, Arkansas to Thurman C. Storey and Ruby Pyburn Storey. A veteran of 24 years of military service, Lieutenant Colonel Storey entered the army as an enlisted man and received a battlefield commission while assigned with a 25 ^th infantry division in Korea. He was also rewarded a Bronze Star for valor in combat and a Purple Heart. After retirement from the military, Jack pursued many other careers. He was a real-estate broker and president of the Home Builders Association. He also worked for Nuclear one as a planner and coordinator for the emergency response system. Later in his retirement, he served for 10 years on the Arkansas Racing Commission appointed by Governor Huckabee.

He was a devoted family man, an avid gardener, who also enjoyed traveling abroad with his wife Mary Jon.

He is preceded in death by his parents Thurman and Ruby Storey; his sister Betty and husband Bud Pew; his sister Peggy and husband Bill Props; and son-in-law Jimmy A. Gray.

He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Mary Jon Gossett Storey; his son Steven Jon Storey; daughter Suzanne Storey Gray; grandchildren Jeb, Megan; Beth, Jen; Sam; Lora; and one great grandchild Rawson Monroe; sister Kitty and husband Kenneth Conley; sister Carol and husband Tom Cooney; numerous nephews and nieces.

The family is planning a small graveside service with full military honors.
