Obituary

James Elbert McConnell age 87, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville. He was born on May 1, 1933 in the Ard Community to the late Rudell and Lois Hamlin McConnell. He retired from the U.S. Navy, where he served as a parachute rigger during both the Korean and Vietnam Wars. Upon retirement he lived in Arlington, Washington where he opened his own business upholstering boats. He returned to Arkansas where he enjoyed raising cattle in Ard and Centerville, Arkansas. He is preceded in death by his wife, Cora Janes McConnell; his parents, Rudell and Lois McConnell; a sister, Mary Lee McConnell Grace and a brother, Ruben McConnell.

He is survived by three sisters, Betty McConnell Crow, Bonnie McConnell McCurdy, Katie McConnell Keys and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00P.M., Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Ard Cemetery with Bro. Jim Benfer officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Ard Cemetery Perpetual Fund, C/O Sandra Rollans, 12423 Ard Road, Dardanelle, Arkansas 72834.
