James Edward Mosley, 87, of Danville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.

Born at home in Yell County, Arkansas, James was the youngest of seven children born to Samuel James "Good" Mosley and Luna Mae Whitecotton Mosley. Growing up during the hardships of the Great Depression, he learned the value of hard work, perseverance, and quiet determination from an early age. Those lessons remained with him throughout his life.

Although only fifteen hours short of completing an engineering degree, James chose to leave college to provide for his young family. That decision became one of many sacrifices he made without complaint. He built a successful career with Walmart, helping oversee store expansions throughout the Southeast. His work often required long hours and frequent travel, but he earned the respect of colleagues through his integrity, fairness, and steady leadership. Those who worked with him knew him as a thoughtful problem solver with an engineer's mind and an unwavering work ethic.

Away from work, James found his greatest peace outdoors. Whether hunting in the Arkansas woods, searching for arrowheads on Chickalah Mountain, or camping with his family, he appreciated the quiet places where time seemed to slow. The woods were one place where deadlines could not find him. He delighted in sharing those experiences with his children and grandchildren, passing along not only outdoor traditions but patience, curiosity, and an appreciation for God's creation.

James was a quiet man whose presence never demanded attention, yet his family always knew where to find wisdom, encouragement, and unconditional love. He listened more than he spoke, thought carefully before offering advice, and demonstrated that strength is often expressed through consistency, humility, and steadfast devotion to those you love.

He shared nearly seven decades of marriage with the love of his life, Nell, whose faithful care and constant companionship were among life's greatest blessings. Their marriage became the foundation upon which their family was built.

James is survived by his beloved wife, Nell Shinn Mosley; his daughter, Dr. Jamie Leigh Rambo; his son, Gregory Max Mosley; and his cherished grandchildren, Tayler Kristina Farley, Dr. Cameron Elizabeth Mosley, Nicholas Steven Rhodes, and Alyssa Leigh McClelland.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel James "Good" Mosley and Luna Mae Whitecotton Mosley, and by his sisters, Emma Grace Rogers, Lillian Bertha Newnam, Bobbie Sue Davis Newnam, Louise Pledger Farrow, Hazel Newnam, and Nettie Hancock.

James will be remembered for the quiet strength with which he lived, the sacrifices he made for his family, and the example of integrity he left behind. His life reminds us that a person's greatest legacy is often found not in recognition received, but in the lives made better because they were loved by him.

Graveside services will be held at Earl Ladd Cemetery 10:00 am Thursday, July 23, 2026 under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home. In keeping with James's wishes, there will be no public visitation.
