James Robert
Partain
December 19, 1948 – August 1, 2025
James Robert Partain, 76, of Benton, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 1, 2025. He was born on December 19, 1948, in Russellville, Arkansas, to the late Elmer Lee Partain and the late Edna Faye (Hawkins) Partain.
James was preceded in death by his wife, Brenda (Patterson) Partain, and his grandson, Jackson Nichols.
He is survived by his son, Phillip Partain (Jamie) of Bryant, Arkansas; his daughter, Stephanie Partain Nichols of Little Rock, Arkansas; and three grandchildren: Cailley Partain-Reed (Garett) of Little Rock, Jacob Partain of Little Rock, and Dell Nichols of Little Rock. He is also survived by his sister, Marylin Kipley (Randy) of Brownsville, Tennessee. In addition, he leaves behind many beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends—as well as his former wife and the mother of his children, Christine Koetke Partain of Little Rock, Arkansas.
James was deeply proud of his service in the United States Navy, and even more proud of his role as a father and grandfather. His love for family and country was unwavering. He will be remembered for his meticulous attention to detail—for being someone who took the time to do things right, noticing what others might overlook, and caring deeply about getting it just so. This care extended to both his professional life and the way he treated those around him. Thoughtful in all he did, James moved through life with quiet purpose—a life marked by service, curiosity, resilience, and love. He will be deeply missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Plainview, Arkansas. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service.
