Obituary

James Lee Weatherall, a life-long resident of Yell County, died April 15, 2020. He was born in Danville, Arkansas, on February 20, 1948, to Eugene L. Weatherall and Foye Mott Weatherall. He attended school in Danville and Dardanelle before graduating from Russellville High School in 1966.

Following graduation from Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy in 1970, he served as a deputy for the City of Dardanelle under City Marshall Venus George. In 1975, Mr. Weatherall became a nationally certified EMT through Morrilton Community College (UACCM). He was a member of the original medical team for the newly formed Yell County EMS and later became its second director.

When Northeast Yell County Rural Water Association was formed, Mr. Weatherall worked alongside the construction crew laying the water lines and literally knew every inch of pipeline in the system. When NEYC Water started production, he was its first office manager serving until February 1991.

Mr. Weatherall served on the Dardanelle City Council. He retired from the Dardanelle Volunteer Fire Department after 20 years of service. He retired as secretary of the Grand Lodge of Arkansas in 2010 after 20 years. At the time of his death, he was a member of Hancock Lodge No. 311, Ft. Leavenworth, KS, and a 33 rd degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member and Elder of First Presbyterian Church in Dardanelle.

Mr. Weatherall was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gene Jr., and grandparents Lee and Loeva Welch Weatherall and Robert Lee and Della Mott.

He is survived by his wife of 52 years Juana Petillo Weatherall; his sons Lee and wife Micki, and Jon and wife Kristen; his grandchildren Hayden, Hayli (Jacob), Noah, Jake, Braden, Braxton and Ellie, and great-granddaughter Maggie; sisters-in-law Willodean Sisson, Dorthy Geibe, and Peggy Sheets; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family also acknowledges special people in James's life: Marty, Wayne, and Edith Byers, Bill George, Harold Zimmer, Aaron South, Palmer Myers, and Jay Adam Pearson; his family of the heart.

Private family graveside services will be held at Brearley Cemetery in Dardanelle.

Pallbearers will be David Sisson, Kurt Spears, Steve Sheets, Jeff Wasson, Dusty George, Matt Murdock.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bill George, Harold Zimmer, Aaron South and Palmer Myers.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Dardanelle.
