Obituary

Jerry Fred McGee Sr., 83 of Dardanelle, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord at his home on Thursday, September 14, 2017. He was born in Moreland, Arkansas, on January 10, 1934, to Newman Dick McGee, Sr. and Sarah Jackie Keeling McGee.

Upon graduation from Carden Bottoms High School, he went to work at Janet Davis Kitchens(known as Tyson today). He met his wife, Betty Jane Pfeifer McGee, there and they were married 61 years before her death in 2016 They have four children, five grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, one great-grandchild and one

step-great-grandchild. He later went to work for the Food Handlers and Commercial Workers Union Local #425 serving as a representative and president. He retired from the union in 1985. He and Betty helped care for their parents as well as the gardening, yardwork, fence building, cabinet making and raised a few cows and horses. He was a member of Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church and loved his church family.

Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by his son, Jerry McGee, Jr., a brother, Jim Ed McGee and in-laws, Hank and Jennie Pfeifer. He is survived by two daughters, Mary McGee of Dardanelle, AR, Vicki (Robinson) Crow of North Little Rock, AR, one son, Jeffrey (Dana) McGee of Dardanelle, AR, one daughter-in-law Cindy McGee Vollers (Mike) of Oklahoma City, OK; five grandchildren, Jerry Trey McGee III, Jared McGee of Oklahoma City, OK; Travis McGee, Jacob McGee of Little Rock, AR, Lisa Crow of North Little Rock, AR; 4 step-grandchildren, Stacey (Crystal) Temple of Jacksonville, AR, Ellianne (John) Barbour of Cabot, AR, Don Temple, Samuel Temple of Dardanelle, AR; one great-grandchild, Emma McGee of Oklahoma City, OK; one step-great-grandchild, Emmie Barbour of Cabot, AR; one brother, Newman (Sue)McGee, Jr. of Little Rock, AR and three sister-in-laws, Carolyn McGee, Peggy Pfeifer, Helen (David) Wood of Dardanelle, AR, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 10:00A.M., Monday, September 18, 2017 at the Missionary Baptist Church in Dardanelle. Visitation will be held Sunday, 2:00P.M. to 4:00P.M. at the Cornwell Funeral Home Chapel.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, step-grandsons and nephews. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church, P. O. Box 157, Dardanelle, AR, 72834.
