Jesse "Russell" Short age 79 of Havana passed away Wednesday, April 22, 2026 at St. Mary's Hospital.

Russell was born March 4, 1947 in Forrest City, Arkansas to the late Jim & Sally Ellis Short.  He was a retired construction worker. He loved fishing, hunting, his family and especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother of his children, Frankie Hutchens Short; siblings, Calvin, James, Marie Butler, Rachel Guin, Hopper, Eugene and Cecil Short; son-in-law, Ray Keeling, brother-in-law, Jay White, sister-in-law, Rita Short.

He is survived by his significant other, Wanda Huffman; children, Sharon Keeling, Ricky & Melody Short and Chris & Judi Bush; siblings, Ed & Linda Short, Johnny & Shirley Short, Pat & Tom Atkinson, Jerry Short and Mary Loyd, Connie White, Danny & Dawn Short; sisters-in-law, Clara Sue Chambers-Glover and Nancy Short; grandchildren, Kayla & Justin Lancaster, Scotty & Kelsea Short, Tesia Bush; great-grandchildren, Izaiah, R.D., Rose, Chandler and Amara; and many nephews, nieces, and cousins.

A memorial service will be at a later date.
