Obituary

Jewelene Barnetta Putman Benefield, age 83 of Danville passed away at the Dardanelle Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center on April 24, 2019 after a long illness.

She was born September 26, 1935 in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Garland County, to Columbus Barnwell Putman and Jewel Tedford Putman. Her mother died from bronchial pneumonia 6 weeks after she was born. At that time her Uncle Frank and Aunt Josie Putman raised her. She affectionately called them papa and mama. They had three daughters and three sons who called her their little sister but also their cousin. She was nicknamed Bugs at very young age and also become known as Bugsy as she got older. She enjoyed being called by her nickname.

Jewelene retired from Con-Agra in Russellville and also worked at the Waldron Furniture Factory, in Waldron Arkansas. She enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandson Joseph Potts.

She was preceded in death by both sets of parents, son, Glen Ray Cockburn, brother, Charlie Putman, son-in-law Bobby Mills and sister-in-law Dortha Putman.

She is survived by daughters Linda Mills of Dardanelle and Trisha Sikes of Danville. Step granddaughter Mindy Crow of Dardanelle. Special family Allen Fred Benefield of Ola, his children, Jeni and Bud Potts of Ola, Lori Miller of Ola, Ronnie and Helen Benefield of Lonsdale and Jeff Benefield of Ola. Grandchildren Joseph Potts of Ola, Jennifer & Aaron Rhoades of Danville, Amanda and Thomas Ghorman of New Castle, Delaware, Rebecca and Justin Doyle of Millsboro, Delaware, Thomas Davis of Ola, and Eric Benefield of Orlando Florida. Great grandchildren Aidan Miller and Ava Ghorman of New Castle, Delaware and Alexa Doyle of Millsboro, Delaware and Gracie Rhoades of Danville. Nephews Mike & Billie Jean Qualls and Larry &Vickie Putman.

Visitation will be Monday, April 29, 2019 form 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville. Funeral service will be Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the Gravelly Methodist Church and burial at the Parks Cemetery in Nola.

Special thanks to the nurses, CNA's and staff at the Dardanelle Nursing and Rehabiltation Center for their care over the past 9 months. And Hospice Nurse Nikki Brothers, CNA's Jennifer and Tosha for their great care of our mother.

Pallbearers will be David Sikes, Rod Rupe, Montie Sims, Jerry Defoor, Billy Seth Lofland and Aaron Rhoades.
