Obituary

Jimmie Gordon Garrison age 80 of the Moores Chapel Community died Saturday, June 23 at Mercy Hospital in Ft.Smith. He was born September 23, 1931 in Jacksboro, Texas to the late Cecil James and Beula V. Lite Garrison. He retired after 23 years as a tuber machine operator at Firestone in Russellville. He was an ordained Pentecostal Minister serving in many area churches. He attended the Moores Chapel Church on Sunday mornings and the Havana Assembly of God on Sunday evenings. He loved the Lord and was happiest when he was doing his work. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Reed Williams and sister-in-law, Pat Wells. Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Maverene Wells Garrison, son Jimmie Gordon Garrison Jr. of Dover; daughters, Carolyn Sue Bird and Michael of Yellville; Sandra Gail Cates and Timothy of Pottsville; brothers-in-law, Jimmy Wells and David and Emily Wells all of New Mexico; thirteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and a host of other family and friends. Services will be Wednesday, June 27, 10 AM at the Moores Chapel Church with Brother Bob Caldwell and Brother Tim Cates officiating. Burial will be in Moores Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26, 6 to 8 PM. Pallbearers will be Michael Allen, Tobby Allen, David Hamilton, Troy Hamilton, Jimmie Tallant, Billy Deluna and Gordon Dillion.
