Joe Nelson Moss, 72, of Dardanelle, formerly of Little Rock entered his Heavenly Home on Sunday, May 30,2021.  He was born November 30,1948 to the late Paul and Estella Esparza Moss.  Joe was an avid reader, sports enthusiast and Jesus follower.

Joe graduated from Central High School in Little Rock and attended UCA where he was on both the basketball and baseball team for the Bears.  He joined the Marine Corps in 1971, where he was an Aircraft Electrician stationed at El Torro, CA.  After serving he returned to UCA and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education with a minor in Psychology and Math.

Joe coached for 15 years at various schools in several states before returning to Arkansas to be a devoted caretaker to his parents.  He moved to Dardanelle in 2015, where he spent his time fishing, golfing and working with his great nieces and nephews, along with some of their friends, in basketball baseball and football.  He loved attending sporting events for the Gators, Lizards, and Russellville Pirates.  He was a charter member of Heritage Baptist Temple in Little Rock and currently attended First Baptist Church of Dardanelle.

Joe said his greatest joy in life was testifying of the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus and seeing many people give their life to Jesus as a result of that testimony.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Mary Bolin.

Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Paul Moss and wife Annette, niece Melissia Benefield and husband Joey, niece April Metcalf, 2 great nieces, 5 great nephews and 1 great-great niece.

Funeral service is Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at First Baptist Church in Dardanelle, 10 a.m., with Pastor Carl Fair officiating.  Visitation is from 9-10 a.m. prior to service.  Burial will be at Black Cemetery in Grapevine, AR. Services are under the direction of Cornwell Funeral Home of Dardanelle.
