John M Green age 85 of Plainview passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2014 at Chambers Memorial Hospital. He was born November 13, 1928 in the Gilkey Community to the late Samuel Cody & Delphia Light Green. He was an Sergeant in the Army - Korea War, and a power house mechanic for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, school board member for the Plainview/Rover School for many years. John was a member of the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He and his wife were owners of K&G Station in Danville for14 years. John was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Dora Leigh Furrow. Survivors include his wife of 58 years Helen Kimbrough Green; daughter & son-in-law; Vickie and Galen Rounsaville of Danville; sons Mike and Linda Green and Mark and Lori Green all of Plainview; grandchildren, DeGee Rounsaville, Matthew Green, Brandon Green, Kaylea Green, Jaycee Green, Noah Green and great-grandson, Chance Rounsaville and a host of family and friends. Funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Friday August 1, 2014 at New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Bruce Swanson officiating. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.Thursday, July 31 at the funeral home. Burial will be at New Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Matthew Green, Brandon Green, Galen Rounsaville, Joe Taylor, Troy McConnell, and David Smith. Honorary pallbearers will be Waymon Sides Sunday School Class at the First Baptist Church.
