John Robert Swatzel age 79 of Delaware, passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026, at Dardanelle Nursing and Rehab Center. He was born October 3, 1946, in Danville, Arkansas to the late Elmer Elisha Swatzel and Mary Jane (Duncan) Swatzel. John was a member of the Dardanelle Missionary Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Doreen Jewell (Berry) Swatzel: brother, Kenneth Duane Swatzel; nephew Kevin Swatzel.

Survivors include his sons, Ryan Daniel Swatzel (Rebecca), John Michael Swatzel, Aaron Austin Swatzel (Wendy); one brother, Jerry Joe Swatzel (Carol); cherished friend, Connie Brashear; nieces, Jessica Swatzel, Nancy (Swatzel) Reiszner, Dottie (Swatzel) Wilkins, Jeanette Swatzel, Sally (Swatzel) Cline; nephew, Kenny Swatzel II, Keith A. Swatzel, Zachary Swatzel; grandchildren, Avery, Chris, Ashley, David, Gunnar, Lelaina, Adalynn, Morgan, Madison, Mackenzie; two great grandchildren, Lennox, Everett.

John was an adventurous soul who loved traveling, hunting, fishing, and cooking. He was a natural storyteller who seemed to run into old friends wherever he went, often spending hours catching up. Our family will fondly treasure memories of deer camp on River Mountain, trips to the Rockies and Canada, and his many stories of growing up in Danville.
