Obituary

JOSEPH M. DEITSCH JR & MARSHA A. DEITSCH

Joseph passed away peacefully beside his wife on December 27, 2020 at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, AR where both were hospitalized.

Joseph was born in Cincinnati, OH to the late Joseph and Virginia (Koch) Deitsch, and recently celebrated his 73rd birthday. A U.S. Navy Veteran, self-proclaimed nomad, and a jack-of-all-trades he found work as a line-cook, machinist, and a firefighter all across the United States. He completed his firefighter training in Oklahoma and later became a decorated firefighter. He eventually settled in Northwest Arkansas where he enjoyed fishing and the great outdoors.

Joseph met his wife, Marsha, in 1999. They resided in Dardanelle, AR where they enjoyed time together hiking Mt. Nebo.

Joseph was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and uncle who was always quick to make light of a situation and had a flair for telling terrible jokes. When asked how he was feeling, he would reply, "With my hands!"

He is proceeded in death by his father, mother, his brother, David, and his brother-in-law, Alvin Wright.

Marsha passed peacefully January 8, 2021, held by her daughter, Beth, as she parted to join Joseph in Heaven.

Marsha was born in El Campo, TX to the late Robert and Lois (Shimek) Vasicek and was three days from her 73rd birthday. A 1997 graduate of Arkansas Tech, she majored in Science. She went on to teach 5th and 6th grade science at Western Yell County Elementary and enjoyed having a positive impact on her students. Leaving teaching to pursue a Retail Management career, they relocated several times, eventually finding themselves back in Yell County after her retirement in 2013.

A dependable, hard worker with a green thumb, Marsha was looking forward to planting a small garden and tending her flower beds in the spring. She could grow anything outside, but only the hardiest aloe vera and bamboo survived indoors!

A dedicated mother and grandmother, Marsha embraced and treasured every moment with her daughter and her grandchildren.

She was the designated family "Birthday cake maker." Her delectable pineapple upside-down cake was eventually requested by all.

She is proceeded in death by her father, mother, and her sister, Beverly Hughlett.

The loss of both Joseph and Marsha will leave a tremendous hole in many hearts. They are survived by Joseph's brother, Roger (Jerry) Deitsch, and his wife, Kimberly, of Andover, KS; his sisters, Beverly (Deitsch) Acord, and her husband, Will, of Cincinnati, OH, and Cindy (Deitsch) Wright of Cincinnati, OH; their daughter, Elizabeth (Goodson) Neagle, and her husband, Darin Neagle of Havana, AR;

grandchildren, Gracie Myers, Madison Myers, Abigail Myers, Ivan Neagle, Rowan Neagle, and Haley Deitsch; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Marsha's beloved cat, Dexter.

A public visitation will be held for them both on Saturday, January 16, 2021 from 4pm-6pm at Cornwell Funeral Home in Danville. All family and friends are invite
