Juliana "Judy" Hamberg Prince passed away in her home on January 19, 2016. She was born September 3, 1914 in her grandmother's summer home on Mount Nebo to the late Leo H. and Bennie Wheat Hamberg both of Lonoke, Ar.
Judy was preceded in death by her husband Morgan Prince and a brother, Leo, Jr. Survivors include: daughter Diane, and husband Ron Knight of Plano, Texas; son Rick Prince, and wife Vicki of Memphis, TN; daughter Terry, and husband Larry Dopson of Mount Nebo. Also grandchildren: Tim and Andy Knight, Morgan and Myles Prince, Christie Parsons and Mitsy Dopson. Surviving great grandchildren include: Heather Parsons and Ethan, Rory, Reilly and Viola Knight and one great great grandchild.
Although her childhood was spent in Conway, Ar., Judy has been active in and around Mt. Nebo all of her life. She spent summers there with her grandparents Charity Rosanna and Pat H. Wheat.
On the mountain, Judy enjoyed tennis, games, bridge, biking and entertaining family and friends. People were her primary focus in life. In 1938 when she was finishing her bachelor's degree at UCA where she ran track, Judy's parents moved from Conway to become fulltime residents of Mt. Nebo. On July 1, 1940 she married Morgan in a simple ceremony on the front porch of her parent's home. In 1970 they retired to their beloved mountain where she continued to use her bridge skilled earning her Bronze Life Master from ACBL. At 101 years young she was still entertaining folks and also driving her sports car to bridge games.
In memory of her long colorful life, you are encouraged to attend a celebration at her residence on February 20, 2016 from 11AM to 3PM.
