Kent Jay Barnes, age 43 of Ola, passed away Saturday, October 29, 2022 at his home. He was born November 22, 1978 in Russellville, Arkansas to Ronald Jay Barnes and Janice Gayle Marcum Barnes. He was a member of the Ola First Baptist Church and a 1997 graduate of Ola High School. Kent loved football, the Dallas Cowboys, baseball, Houston Astros, hunting, fishing, and being in the outdoors. He loved his family, especially his boys Konnor and Korbin. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, J.W. and Hazel Marcum, Jeraldine and Joe Barnes; two uncles, Johnny Barnes, Kenneth Barnes and one aunt, JoAnn Marshall.
Survivors include his wife, Sonya Haley Barnes of Ola; parents, Ronny and Janice Barnes of Ola; two children, Konnor Barnes, Korbin Barnes, and Jennifer Barnes (mother of his boys) all of Dardanelle; five stepchildren, Brandon Royer of Fayetteville, Shelby Royer of Florida, Brittany Gray of Danville, Courtney Smith of Ola, Keri Smith of Conway; two sisters, Stephanie Barnes of Ola, Lindsey Sutterfield (Michael) of Pottsville; one nephew, Brady Sutterfield of Pottsville; three grandchildren and his beloved dog, Sally.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Thursday at the First Baptist Church in Ola with Bro. Richard Lodwick and Bro. John David Keeling officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. at the church.
Pallbearers will be Josh Lawrence, Phillip Dixon, Kris Isom, Ed Reynolds, Dewayne Barnes, Johnny Davis, Tracy Barnes and David Barnes.
Honorary Pallbearers will be John Harrison, Josh Harrison, Mark Stanley, Wade Stanley, Michael Dorch, Johnny Lawrence, Richard Holt, Leslie Barnes, Donald Walker, Bruce Burnett, Greg Dixon, Evan Barnes, Barry Turnbow, Shawn Bittle, Eric Flood, Clint Flood, Kevin "Bub" Treat, Frankie Allred, Stephen Mediano, Jason Balentine, Michael Sutterfield, Brad Burnett, Brent Burnett and Edward Martinez.
Memorial donations may be made to Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, Youth Hunt.
