Lawrence "Gage" Gates, age 22 of Jacksonville, passed away September 2, 2022. He was born May 19, 2000 in Russellville, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Steve Smith, Daniel Hernandez, and George Gates and his great grandparents, Cleva Smith, Murl and Juanita Briley. Gage loved anything that had to do with horses, racing, and just helping people. He never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help. His smile would make anyone's bad day better.
Survivors include his parents, Victor and Amber Hernandez and Shawn Gates; two brothers, Donavan Gates of Danville, Alex Hernandez of the home; grandparents, Pam Smith of Plainview, Cerena Perez of Mexico, Helen Gates of Danville; aunts and uncles, Stephanie Davenport (Jimmy) of Plainview, Noelia Hernandez of Mexico, Elda (Maurcio) of Mexico, Russell Gates (Monica) of Mt. George, Brian Gates (Tammy) of Waldron, Jonathan Gates (Michelle) of Ranger and numerous cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00P.M., Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Jesus Name Pentecostal Church in Plainview with Bro. Stacey Lisenby officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, 6:00P.M. to 8:00P.M. at the church. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery in Plainview.
Pallbearers will be Alberto Salinas, Jason Taylor, Blaine Smith, Donavan Gates, Roman Cruz and Marcos Lopez.
Honorary Pallbearers will be members of his racing family.
