Lawrence Allin Vaughn, Jr., 59, of Dardanelle, passed away unexpectedly at St. Mary's Hospital in Russellville, AR, on April 16, 2023.  In the past several years he faced many health challenges due to a heart attack and a long bout with Covid.  A recent illness was more than his heart could handle. He leaves a huge hole in the hearts of his family and friends.

Lawrence Jr. was born on August 11, 1963, at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, TX, to Lawrence Sr. and Shirley (Pfeifer) Vaughn of Dardanelle, AR. As a military (Air Force) family, he also lived in Charleston, SC and Altus, OK.

As a teenager, he became interested in working on cars and soon learned to fix about anything he got his hands on. For a brief period of time, he could be found at local racetracks racing his car and helping his friends with their cars. He worked as a diesel mechanic for many years and eventually opened his own shop.

Lawrence Jr. had two sons, Christopher and Stephen.  He loved teaching them to work on their motorbikes and took them to motocross races or Taekwondo classes.  They were his pride and joy. He also had a step-daughter, Chelsea, and step-grandson, Eli, whom he cherished.  Eli loved his grandfather and spent a lot of time with him in his shop or fishing in the pond. Lawrence Jr was looking forward to another grandchild this summer as Christopher and his wife, Chelsey, are expecting a child in July.

If there was one thing Lawrence Jr was, that was a good friend... No matter what the request, he was always willing to help, whether it be fixing your car, electrical work or just cheering you up. He was loved by everyone who ever met him.  No matter the occasion, you'd always leave with a story of something funny he did while you were with him.

Lawrence Jr. is survived by parents, Lawrence Sr. & Shirley Vaughn, and his son Christopher Vaughn (Chelsey White) and his stepdaughter, Chelsea McNeely (Mike) and grandson Eli McNeely. He is also survived by his sister, Sherry Vaughn Crossno (Rickey Wise) and his brother, Joel Vaughn (Betsy), not to mention several nephews and nieces. We'd be amiss to leave out his parrot, Henry, as well.

Lawrence Jr. is now at peace, joining his son, Stephen, who passed in 2007. You can bet they are either riding motorbikes or playing guitars and having the time of their lives.

Visitation will be at Cornwell Chapel from 6-8pm, Tuesday April 18 ^th and funeral will be Wednesday, April 19 ^th at 2pm.

Pallbearers will be Hoss Yates, Mike Hickey, Jeff Ray, Hayden Vaughn, Billy McNeely, Danny Kirby, Rick Boyer, Brent Christy and Terry Christy.
