Lena Joy Cossey, age 80 of Atkins, passed away Saturday, May 4, 2024 at her home. She was born April 3, 1944 in Scotland, Arkansas to the late Weldon Mills and Alta Freeman Mills. She loved her animals, flowers and gardening. She also had a strong love for her grandchildren. She enjoyed taking roads to see where they led to and sightseeing. She loved the outdoors, and enjoyed all types of foods. Lena was a stylish dresser and she loved cutting and styling her families hair. Lena was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Charles Wayne Cossey Sr.; infant son, Kashawboie Wade and a sibling, Evern Lawless.

Survivors include her children, Dr. Chase Morgan Poe, Charlie Nicole Cossey, LPN; siblings, Mack Mills, Aleda Virginia Bateman, Barney Mills, Cordell Alta New and grandchildren, Warren Bailey Meadows, Laney Nicole Osborn, Wesley Hayden Cossey, Allan Ayden Lee Nicholson IV, Gage Cayden Lee Nicholson and a great granddaughter, Juniper Lillian Kay Meadows.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00A.M., Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Cedar Creek Cemetery in Jerusalem.
